
Women's Hockey Falls to Providence, 4-0

PROVIDENCE, R.I. ??? The Boston University women???s hockey team fell to Providence College 4-0 on Saturday (Nov.19) afternoon at Schneider Arena. Freshman Karilyn Pilch (Salem, N.H.) made 37 saves in her third start of the season. The Friars outshot the Terriers 42-10 on the afternoon.
"Give a lot or credit to Providence," said Head Coach Brian Durocher. "They're a good skating team."
"I was very pleased with the way [Karilyn] Pilch played today," continued the coach. "She faced a lot of shots and I thought she played very well."
Providence got on the board at 12:28 of the first period when Ashley Payton redirected a shot by Kristin Gigliotti. Also assisting on the play was Karen Thatcher.
The Friars scored three second period goals, the first by Jenna Keilch at 11:18 who knocked in the rebound off a shot by Katelynn Laffin. Kristin Gigliotti scored on a shot from the point at 11:59. She was assisted by Karen Thatcher and Ashley Payton. The third goal of the period was scored by Rachel Crissy at 19:56 when she knocked in a rebound off a Kathleen Smith shot. Also assisting on the play was Erin Normore.
This is only the second time the Terriers have been shut out this season.
The Terriers host the UConn Huskies tomorrow, Sunday, Nov. 20, at Walter Brown Arena at 3 pm.
