BOSTON - The No. 5 Boston University women's ice hockey team (8-1-1, 2-0-1 HEA) will continue its season-long five-game homestand against Vermont on Nov. 12-13. Opening faceoff for both games is set at 3 p.m.
SCOUTING THE CATAMOUNTS
• Vermont is 1-4-5 in 2010-11, including 0-4-2 in Hockey East.
• The Catamounts most recently tied No. 6 Boston College, 2-2, in Chestnut Hill, Mass.
• Freshman goaltender Roxanne Douville has been named HE Rookie of the Week the past two weeks. She made 59 saves in games against New Hampshire and Boston College last weekend.
• Senior Celeste Doucet paces the team with six points (3g, 3a), while senior defenseman Saleah Morrison has contributed five points (1g, 4a).
BU VS. VERMONT
• BU is 12-2-1 all-time against the Catamounts, including a 7-0-0 mark at Walter Brown Arena.
• The Terriers have recorded seven shutouts against Vermont and have outscored the Catamounts by a 46-14 margin.
• BU swept the season series in 2006-07 and 2007-08, while going 2-0-1 in 2005-06, and 2-1-0 in 2008-09 and 2009-10.
TEAM CONNECTIONS
• Members of the Terriers and Catamounts played for the same teams prior to college.
• BU freshman Caroline Campbell and Vermont's Kellie Dineen played for Shattuck-St. Mary's.
• Three Terriers -- juniors Kasey Boucher and Jill Cardella and sophomore Taylor Holze -- and three Catamounts -- seniors Teddy Fortin and Hannah Westbrook and freshman Valerie Stoul -- played at the North American Hockey Academy.
• Junior Jenelle Kohanchuk and UVM senior Saleah Morrison played for the Balmoral School in Winnipeg.
GOING STREAKING
• The Terriers are currently on a nine-game unbeaten streak (8-0-1).
• BU's unbeaten streak is the second best in the nation, behind only Boston College (7-0-3).
• At 8-1-1 on the season, BU is tied with its crosstown rival with the third best winning percentage in the nation (.850).
• BU is also 6-0-0 at Walter Brown Arena, extending a program record for its best home start to a season.
SPECIAL PLAY
• The Terriers boast the best penalty kill and are tied for the fifth best power play in the nation.
• BU has connected on 10-of-44 power-play opportunities while successfully killing 50-of-52 power plays.
• The Terriers have also scored six shorthanded goals, the most in the nation.
MILLER NAMED HOCKEY EAST PLAYER OF THE WEEK
• Sophomore defenseman Kathryn Miller equaled her 2009-10 point total with five points (2g, 3a) during BU's two-win weekend against Providence (Nov. 6) and New Hampshire (Nov. 7).
• Miller was also named Hockey East Player of the Week.
HOME SWEET HOME
• BU is 6-0-0 at Walter Brown Arena, extending a program record for its best home start to a season.
• The Terriers set the record after defeating Providence, 4-1, on Nov. 6.
TERRIER PRIDE
• Since Sept. 16, the BU men's and women's soccer and ice hockey teams have combined for a record of 35-4-3.
• The men's and women's ice hockey teams are also on a combined 17-game unbeaten streak (14-0-3).
FIRST OF FIRSTS
• BU received its first-ever first place votes in both national polls this week.
• Just one point separates BU from fourth-ranked Mercyhurst in the USCHO.com poll.
LAST TIME OUT
• The Terriers swept their two games last weekend, defeating Providence, 4-1, and New Hampshire, 5-2.
• After falling behind in both games, BU used a four-goal second period against the Friars and a four-goal third period against the Wildcats en route to the wins.
• Senior Jillian Kirchner and junior Jenelle Kohanchuk each tallied two goals and an assist against New Hampshire.
