
Poulin Named Hockey East Rookie of the Month

WAKEFIELD, Mass. - Freshman Marie-Philip Poulin of the No. 5 Boston University women's ice hockey team was today named Pro Ambitions' Hockey East Rookie of the Month for October, the league office announced. The forward led the conference in points (16), while ranking first among freshmen in goals (9) and assists (7) during the season's first month.
Poulin enjoyed a breakout start to her collegiate career, registering at least one point in each of the Terriers' first seven games. The Beauceville, Que., native recorded five multi-point games during October and matched BU's single-season record for shorthanded goals in just four games (3). In addition, Poulin matched another Terrier record when she scored four goals in a game against Wayne State on Oct. 15.
The freshman also led the nation in shorthanded goals and was first among all rookies with an average of two points per game. She added two power-play goals and one game-winning marker during October.
The Terriers (6-1-1, 0-0-1 HEA) will return to action this weekend when they host Providence on Saturday (Nov. 6) at 3 p.m. and New Hampshire on Sunday (Nov. 7) at 4 p.m.
