USCHO.com Poll | Wakefield, Poulin Receive Weekly Honors
BOSTON - The Boston University women's ice hockey team received its highest ranking in program history in this week's USCHO.com Division I Women's Poll, coming in at No. 3.
The Terriers, who collected 108 points, jumped two spots from last week's poll after defeating Northeastern, 3-0, on Tuesday and Harvard, 5-3, on Friday. The two victories extended BU's win streak to six games.
The women's ice hockey team is off to its best start in program history with a 14-2-3 (5-1-3 HEA) record. The Terriers have twice matched a program-high six-game winning streak (Oct. 3-23, Nov. 21-Dec. 10) and also set a team-best 11-game unbeaten streak from Oct. 3-Nov. 13.
BU ranks among the nation's best in several statistical categories, including scoring offense (fifth/3.79), scoring defense (eighth/1.84) and power play (fifth/.222) and penalty kill (second/.944) efficiency. The Terriers are 12-0-0 when leading after two periods in 2010-11 and have outscored their opponents, 54-20, during the last two frames.
BU will return to action on Jan. 2 for a non-conference matchup at Brown.
