WAKEFIELD, Mass. - Junior goaltender Kerrin Sperry of the No. 6/7 Boston University women's ice hockey team was named Hockey East Co-Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.
Sperry was sensational in the Terriers' two ties at Minnesota-Duluth this past weekend. She matched a season high with 38 saves on Sunday and earned her second shutout of the season in a scoreless draw. She was also sharp on Saturday in a 28-save effort to help the Terriers rally for a 2-2 tie.
The North Reading, Mass., native lowered her goals-against average to 2.30 and her save percentage improved to .916. She finished the first semester with a 10-2-3 record and earned wins against three top-five teams. This is the third time that Sperry has earned Defensive Player of the Week honors; she was also recognized on Oct. 22 and Nov. 19.
