WAKEFIELD, Mass. - Junior co-captain Marie-Philip Poulin of the No. 7 Boston University women's ice hockey team was named Hockey East Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.
Poulin had a five-point weekend, including her third career hat trick on Saturday in the Terriers' 6-4 win over Providence. She also had an assist in each game, including the primary helper on junior Shannon Doyle's equalizer in Friday's 4-3 win at Providence.
The Beauceville, Que., native has notched a point in all 13 games she has played this season. She is tied for the team lead with nine goals and leads the conference with 17 assists. Her 26 points are second among league skaters and she is fourth in the nation with an average of 1.31 assists per game.
BU also earned a weekly accolade from the conference as the Terriers were tabbed as Team of the Week thanks to their pair of victories over Providence, which was in first place entering the weekend.
The Terriers will finish the first semester with their longest road trip of the regular-season, as BU will venture to Duluth, Minn., to face Minnesota-Duluth for the first time in program history. The teams will take the ice on Saturday and Sunday, with both games scheduled for 4:07 p.m. ET.
