
Elia Named Hockey East Rookie of the Week

WAKEFIELD, Mass. - Freshman Maddie Elia of the No. 8 Boston University women's ice hockey team was named Hockey East Rookie of the Week, the league office announced Monday.
Elia had six points (2g, 4a) in three games, including a four-point effort against Maine on Nov. 9. She tallied two goals, including a power-play strike, and assisted on two others to help BU defeat the Black Bears, 5-1. It was her second career multi-point game and first two-goal contest. Elia is now third on the team with 11 points (3g, 8a).
The Lewiston, N.Y., native assisted on all three game-winning goals as the Terriers won three league games for the second straight week. The back-to-back Hockey East Team of the Week has won all six of its league tilts and has rattled off seven straight victories. The Terriers have posted 21 consecutive league wins dating back to last November.
BU will be back in action this weekend when its treks to Vail, Colo. for a weekend series against WCHA opponents. The Terriers will face St. Cloud State on Friday night before a Saturday showdown with second-ranked Wisconsin.
