Former Boston University women's ice hockey standouts Jill Cardella, Alissa Fromkin and Shannon Mahoney were each selected in the 2013 Canadian Women's Hockey League Draft on Monday night.
All three 2013 graduates were taken by the Boston Blades, a team BU played to a 4-4 tie in an exhibition game this past season. The Blades are the reigning CWHL champions, having won the 2013 Clarkson Cup. Cardella was a fourth-round pick, followed by Fromkin in the ninth round and Mahoney in the 13th round.
Cardella played in a program-record 151 career games and finished her four-year career with 31 goals and 57 assists for 88 points. Mahoney dressed in 137 games, tallying four goals and two assists for six points. Fromkin started 23 of her 28 games played, posting a 13-5-5 career record with a 2.45 goals-against average.
This marks the third straight year that at least two Terriers were taken in the CWHL Draft. 2012 graduates Jenn Wakefield and Tara Watchorn were selected last season while Catherine Ward ('11) and Jillian Kirchner ('11) were taken in the 2011 draft.
