BOSTON – Three Boston University women's ice hockey alumni are PWHL Walter Cup Champions as Tamara Giaquinto, Nadia Mattivi and Marie-Philip Poulin helped the Montreal Victoire win the 2026 Walter Cup Finals with a 3-1 series victory over the Ottawa Charge. After a scoreless first period on Wednesday night, Montreal won game four in a 4-0 decision to claim the organization's first-ever Walter Cup. The trio are the first Terriers to win the Walter Cup since its creation in 2023.
Poulin totaled eight points in nine games throughout the playoffs thanks to two goals and six assists. She logged one assist in game four on Montreal's lamplighter and collected another assist in game two. Poulin had two multi-point games in the postseason, both of which came against the Minnesota Frost in the first round. Both her postseason goals were game winners, with one coming in the third overtime against the Frost on May 5 and the other early in the third on May 12, that goal sending Montreal to the Walter Cup Finals.
Mattivi made four appearances in the playoffs, all of which during the Walter Cup Finals. The rookie earned an assist on Montreal's first goal in game two of the finals. Over the course of the four games, the defender was credited for five hits.
While she did not hit the ice in the postseason, Giaquinto played in 12 games for the Victoire in the regular season. She was +2 as a rookie, recorded 11 blocks and was credited for one hit.
Also participating in the PWHL postseason was Rebecca Leslie, who accrued six points off four goals and two assists in eight games for the Ottawa Charge. She notably forced the Walter Cup Finals to game four after scoring at 19:04 in the third period in game three. Her game-winner was the fifth of her professional career and the first she logged in the postseason. She finished the year with nine of her goals scored in the third period, the most of any PWHL player.
