CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Freshman Ryan Johnston of the Boston University men's lacrosse team was named Patriot League Rookie of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.
Johnston is the first Terrier to earn a Patriot League weekly award after a career game against Colgate on Saturday. The Elora, Ont., native scored all five of the Terriers' goals in a hard-fought 7-5 loss at Nickerson Field. Johnston converted on all five shots he took and his third goal of the game gave the Terriers third-quarter lead, which is the latest that they have been ahead in their inaugural season.
One of three captains this season, Johnston now leads the team with eight goals and also has the best shot percentage (.400) on the squad. He has scored at least two goals in each of the last two tilts.
BU will hit the road for the first time since its season opener on Feb. 8 when the Terriers travel to Lafayette on Saturday (March 15) for a Patriot League contest. Game time is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
