The Boston University men's lacrosse team will look to carry momentum from the first win in program history into Saturday's Patriot League clash at Bucknell. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
BU (1-6, 1-2 PL) bested Lafayette, 12-7, last weekend to claim the Terriers' inaugural victory. It was the highest offensive output of the season for BU, buoyed by Patriot League Rookie of the Week Cal Dearth's record four assists and six points. Freshman Adam Schaal contributed a career-high five points (2g, 3a) and classmate Chad Bell scored the game-winning goal. Freshman goaltender Christian Carson-Banister made nine saves to secure the victory.
While the Terrier offense had its best game of the season, the BU defense continued its strong play by holding the Leopards to just seven goals. It was the second straight game in which the Terriers allowed just seven goals and they have allowed 10 or fewer in four of their last five fixtures.
Freshman Sam Talkow was terrific at the faceoff X on Saturday as he has been all season. he was 14-of-22 at Lafayette a week after winning 10 of 15 draws against Colgate's Alex Kinnealey, who has the best faceoff percentage in the conference. Talkow is 77-of-133 (.579) this season and is second in the conference with 47 ground balls, an average of 6.71 per game.
Bucknell bested Brown, 13-8, on Wednesday to climb back to .500 at 4-4; it is the team’s second straight win after having dropped three in a row. All three of those losses were to top-20 teams. The Bison are 2-2 in Patriot League play thanks to wins against Holy Cross and Navy.
Sophomore Sean Doyle leads the team with 12 goals and 26 points; he is second in the league with an average of 1.71 points per game. Senior Todd Heritage is tops on the squad with 15 goals while classmate Jackson Place has caused 25 turnovers. Junior goalkeeper Sam Grinberg owns a 9.37 goals-against average and a .556 save percentage.
The Terriers will return home next weekend to host Navy on March 29. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
