The Boston University men's lacrosse team will conclude its inaugural Patriot League schedule when the Terriers travel to Worcester, Mass., to face Holy Cross on Saturday night. Game time is set for 6 p.m.
BU (1-11, 1-6 PL) will finish its three-game road swing on Saturday and is in search of its second road win of the year. This will be the first time since March 29 that the Terriers will not be facing a ranked opponent, having played No. 16 Army, No. 20 Harvard and top-ranked Loyola in their last three tilts. Aside from Loyola, BU has fared well on the road in Patriot League play, going 1-1 and holding each of its opponents to just seven goals.
Freshman Cal Dearth continued his remarkable rookie season last Saturday with a goal and assist at Loyola. He has collected at least two points in five of the last six games. Overall, Dearth has six goals and 12 assists during that stretch. Classmate Craig Zebrowski has also had a hot hand of late, collecting a point in four of the last five games (2g, 2a).
After having missed the last two games due to injury, freshman goalkeeper Christian Carson-Banister is the projected starter for Saturday. Classmate Tyler Zickel played well in Carson-Banister's absence, making a career-high 14 saves at Loyola and stopping nine shots at Harvard. Zickel also gathered four ground balls on Saturday. Carson-Banister leads the Patriot League with an average of 11.10 saves per game.
Holy Cross (3-10, 1-6 PL) enters the weekend having lost two straight games, including an 11-9 defeat at Colgate on April 12. The Crusaders blew an 11-3 lead on April 8 against Sacred Heart and eventually lost, 12-11.
Sophomore Sean Wilkinson leads Holy Cross in both assists (16) and points (33) while junior Terry McKenna is tops on the team with 24 goals. Sophomore Michael Ortlieb has started all 13 games for the Crusaders and owns a 13.37 goals-against average along with a .428 save percentage.
The Terriers will close their inaugural season on Sunday, May 4, when they welcome No. 2 Duke to Nickerson Field. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
