The No. 10 Boston University women's ice hockey team will host Vermont on Sunday afternoon at Walter Brown Arena. Puck drop is slated for 3 p.m.
BU (3-4-0, 2-1-0 WHEA) will look to bounce back after Saturday's hard-fought 7-1 loss at Northeastern. The Terriers have won three straight games against Vermont (1-6-0, 1-0-0 WHEA), including both Hockey East quarterfinal contests last season. They are 14-1-2 against the Catamounts at Walter Brown Arena, and BU also owns the all-time series against UVM, 24-5-3.
Senior Jordan Juron scored the Terriers' lone goal on Saturday, with freshman Mary Grace Kelley collecting her first collegiate point thanks to her primary assist. Junior Maddie Elia also helped on Juron's marker. There were some positives from Saturday's loss, including the play of the Terriers' newly formed trio of senior captain Kayla Tutino, sophomore Victoria Bach and senior Sarah Lefort. The threesome combined for 12 of the team's 31 shots on goal and had several good chances throughout the contest.
Tutino has enjoyed plenty of success against Vermont in her career at BU, including a six-point performance (5g, 1a) in last season's quarterfinal games. Overall, Tutino has tallied a point in eight of her 12 games against UVM, totaling 16 points (8g, 8a) against the Catamounts. Lefort has collected 11 points (3g, 8a) in her career against Vermont, while her new linemate Bach has notched three goals and six assists in just five fixtures against UVM.
Vermont enters Sunday's tilt having earned its first victory of the season on Saturday at Providence. The Catamounts beat the Friars, 3-1, thanks to goals from Bridget Baker, Dayna Colang and Victoria Andreakos. Baker leads the team with two goals and three points, while seven different Catamounts have at least one assist.
Sophomore Molly Depew has started three of the last four games between the pipes for Vermont, including Saturday's victory. She owns a 2.67 goals-against average and a .911 save percentage.
The Terriers will have an entire week off before they head to New Hampshire for a league tilt against the Wildcats. Puck drop is scheduled for 2 p.m.
