ORONO, Maine - Freshman Sammy Davis scored two goals, including the game-winner with 3:04 remaining in regulation, to help lift the No. 8 Boston University women's ice hockey team to a 4-2 win over Maine on Sunday afternoon at Alfond Arena.

BU (2-0-0, 2-0-0 WHEA) trailed Maine (1-1-0, 1-1-0 WHEA), 2-0, early in the second period, but the Terriers tallied twice in the middle frame and twice more in the third period to secure both points. Four of the team's six goals this season have come in the final 20 minutes.

Senior Rebecca Russo scored for the second time in as many games, while sophomore Rebecca Leslie added a shorthanded empty-netter to seal the victory. Junior Victoria Hanson relieved starter Erin O'Neil (4 saves) in the second period and finished with 14 saves to improve to 2-0.

Two Terriers collected their first collegiate points on Russo's goal, as sophomore Savannah Newton and Connor Galway each earned their first-ever assist. Leslie and Russo each had a helper for a two-point afternoon, while juniors Sarah Steele and Samantha Sutherland joined sophomore Victoria Bach as Terriers with an assist on Sunday.

The Black Bears struck first when Audra Richards found the back of the net late in the opening period. Maine scored 26 seconds into the second stanza, and the Terriers switched goaltenders and brought on Hanson at the 1:46 mark of the frame. The change seemed to spark BU, as Davis made it a 2-1 game moments later. Sutherland dished the puck to Steele at the right point, and Davis redirected the ensuing shot past Meghann Treacy (40 saves).

Russo tied the game halfway through the period on a similar play. Newton passed the puck to Galway at the right point, and the freshman sent a shot towards goal. Russo reached out to her right with her stick and deflected the puck into the top corner.

The two teams remained deadlocked until the 16:56 mark of the third period when Davis lit the lamp again on the Terriers' fifth power play of the game. Leslie and Russo helped get the puck to the front of the net, and Davis was there to finish the play and score the Terriers' second third-period winner in as many games.

Leslie added her empty-netter as the Terriers killed a Maine power play. A Black Bear defender got to the puck in the right corner of her own zone, but Bach forechecked hard and got her stick on the outlet pass, popping the puck in the air. It landed in the middle of the zone for Leslie, who calmly slotted it into the open net for her first goal of the season.
