BOSTON - Sarah Lefort of the Boston University women's ice hockey team was selected by the Buffalo Beauts in the inaugural National Women's Hockey League Draft on Saturday afternoon.
Lefort, who will play her senior season at BU in 2015-16, was chosen eighth overall by Buffalo. The Ormstown, Quebec, native has been outstanding in her first three seasons at BU. She has scored 79 goals and added 69 assists for 148 career points, which ranks fourth among returning Hockey East skaters.
Last year, Lefort was eighth in the country with 50 points (23g, 27a) and averaged 1.75 points per game during the Hockey East playoffs to help BU win its fourth straight championship. She has scored at least 20 goals in all three seasons at BU and led the nation with three hat tricks in 2014-15.
