Lattell Named Director of Lacrosse Operations
August 4, 2015 | Men's Lacrosse
BOSTON - Al Lattell has been promoted to Boston University director of lacrosse operations, as announced by head men's lacrosse coach Ryan Polley and head women's lacrosse coach Liz Robertshaw on Tuesday afternoon.
Lattell has been with the Terriers since 2013 as a volunteer assistant coach for the men's lacrosse team. He coordinated team travel and camps in addition to his gameday duties on the BU sideline. Lattell helped coach the faceoff specialists, including rising junior Sam Talkow, who was an All-Patriot League selection in 2015, and was responsible for organizing the Terriers' in-game substitutions.
"For three years Coach Lattell has been vital to our program's development," Polley said. "Nobody cares more about BU Lacrosse than Coach Lattell and we're excited to promote him and move him to a full-time position. This is another example of the University's commitment to furthering our athletic programs, specifically making our lacrosse programs nationally competitive with our facilities and resources."
In his new role, Lattell will oversee day-to-day operations of both BU lacrosse programs. He will continue to coordinate travel as well as oversee student managers and handle alumni relations. In addition, he will head up both teams' community service and outreach as well as help with on-campus recruiting.
"We're excited to welcome Al into the women's lacrosse side of the BU Lacrosse family," Robertshaw said. "He has proven to be a loyal asset to the men's program over the years and having witnessed first-hand his strong work ethic, desire to learn about all aspects of both the men's and women's game, and his unparalleled passion for everything BU Lacrosse, I know he will be a great fit. We are also thankful to the University for supporting the creation of a Director of Operations position. It truly shows BU's commitment to the advancement of the men's & women's lacrosse programs."
Lattell is a 2008 graduate of BU and played four years of club lacrosse for the Terriers, serving as captain in 2007 and 2008. Upon earning his bachelor's degree in political science, Lattell stayed at BU for four seasons as an assistant coach for the club team.
"I'd like to thank Coach Polley and his staff for giving me the opportunity to be a part of the men's lacrosse program for the past two seasons," Lattell said. "Being a BU alumnus, it has been special to be part of the building of the program and I am so grateful that I was afforded that opportunity. I also want to thank Coach Robertshaw and her staff, as well as Drew Marrochello and Dan Satter, for making it possible for me to continue to be a part of both BU lacrosse programs. I'm excited to begin a new chapter with the women's team and to continue to work with the men's team."
