Men's Lacrosse Bikes to Newport for Autism Speaks
BOSTON - Boston University men's lacrosse players Pat Myers, Allen Winkoff and Sam Tenney accepted a check from the Clay Buchholz Foundation on behalf of Autism Speaks prior to Thursday night's Boston Red Sox game at Fenway Park.
The men's lacrosse team participated in the Bike to the Beach on Sept. 4, riding from Boston to Newport, Rhode Island, to raise money for Autism Speaks. Fourteen players completed the 101-mile ride while the rest of the squad volunteered along the route. The team raised over $11,000, making it one of the largest fundraising events ever by a BU team. On Thursday, the Buchholz Foundation presented a $20,000 check to Autism Speaks.
