TURNING POINT
- Early in the third period, junior goaltender Erin O'Neil made one of her 26 saves on a 2-on-1 chance to keep BU down by just a goal at 3-2. Minutes later, Bach tied the game, 3-3, to spark the Terrier rally. O'Neil also denied a shorthanded breakaway bid in the second period as part of her strong performance on Friday.
GOAL-BY-GOAL
- Bach opened the scoring with 42.2 seconds remaining in the first period. Graduate student Mary Parker won a battle behind the net and got the puck to a wide-open Bach in front of the net. Bach remained composed and fired home her sixth goal of the season.
- Maine scored a power-play goal at the 10:37 mark of the second stanza to tie the game, 1-1.
- Slick stickhandling from senior Samantha Sutherland secured a 2-1 lead for BU with 4:37 to play in the middle frame. Sophomore Connor Galway sent a diagonal pass across the neutral zone to Sutherland. She then skated to the middle of the Maine zone, stepped around a defender and then backhanded the puck past Carly Jackson (27 saves) for her team-leading eighth goal of the year.
- The lead lasted just 36 seconds, however, as the Black Bears responded with a goal that was upheld after video review.
- Maine then made it 3-2 with 16.9 seconds to play in the period.
- Bach's second goal of the game tied it, 3-3, with 9:59 to play in the third period. Junior Rebecca Leslie created a 2-on-1 with freshman Deziray De Sousa before firing a puck on goal. De Sousa's rebound bid was turned aside, but Bach trailed the play and the third time was the charm as she lifted the puck over into the net.
- Parker gave BU the lead for good with 7:51 remaining in regulation. Junior Nina Rodgers blocked a shot in the BU zone and carried the puck into the Maine end. She managed to hang onto the puck while drawing a Maine penalty and eventually found Parker for her eighth goal of the year.
- Bach completed her hat trick in the final seconds when she forced a turnover at the Maine blue line and wristed the puck the length of the ice and into the open net.
