The No. 20 Boston University men's lacrosse team will host Lehigh on Saturday at Nickerson Field as part of the inaugural Lacrosse-A-Palooza. Game time is set for 12:30 p.m., with the women's lacrosse team hosting Lehigh afterwards at 3:30 p.m.
BU (8-2, 3-1 PL) is back in the Inside Lacrosse media poll after a pair of wins last week, including a 9-8 win at then-No. 14/15 Harvard on March 22. The Terriers also earned a 16-6 road win at Lafayette last Saturday to improve to 3-1 in the league and move one win away from clinching their best conference record in three seasons.
The Terriers are in search of their first win over Lehigh. If this season is any indication, they will pick up that victory. BU is 3-0 this season against teams that had defeated the Terriers in each of the previous two seasons, including wins over ranked foes Navy and Harvard.
Junior Cal Dearth is the reigning Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week after securing eight points (5g, 3a) in the two wins last week. Dearth is second on the squad with 12 assists and his 23 points is tied for second on the team. He has recorded at least two points in each of the last six games since returning from injury.
Sophomore Jack Wilson is in the midst of a 21-game point streak and a 15-game goal streak entering Saturday. He is only one of six players in the country with a goal-scoring streak of 15 or more games. However, the goals have not come from just Wilson or Dearth. Twenty different Terriers in total have found the back of the net this season, with a season-high 11 different players scoring last weekend at Lafayette. Only Army (23) has more goal scorers than BU among Patriot League teams this year.
Lehigh is 5-4 after a 16-6 loss at home to Stony Brook on Tuesday. Lehigh also suffered a 12-7 home setback to No. 14/16 Navy on Saturday to fall to 3-2 in the Patriot League.
Freshman Tristan Rai leads Lehigh with 23 goals and is second in points with 28 behind senior Reid Weber, who has a team-high 11 assists and 33 points. Lehigh faces off at just 39 percent and sophomore Matt Ernst is best at 38-of-78 for a 48.7 percent success rate.
Sophomore Adam Sawicki has started six of the seven games in which he has appeared, posting a 9.99 goals-against average. Freshman Chris Kiernan has started three of his four games and leads the squad with a .521 save percentage.
BU will remain at home next weekend when the Terriers welcome Army West Point to Nickerson Field. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
