Fourteen Terriers Named to WHEA All-Academic Team

WAKEFIELD, Mass. - Fourteen members of the Boston University women's ice hockey team were named to the Hockey East All-Academic team, the league announced on Wednesday.

Each Terrier on the squad achieved a grade-point average of 3.0 or better in each of the two semesters that they competed in during the 2016-17 season.  BU has now placed 10 or more players on the All-Academic squad five times. Eight Terriers in total were repeat selections to the All-Academic Team.

Victoria Hanson earned special recognition as a Distinguished Scholar after being named to the All-Academic Team for the fourth consecutive season. She was one of only five players in the league to achieve that feat.

Boston University Woman of the Year Alexis Crossley garnered her third selection to the All-Academic Team after she earned her master's degree in May. Ashlyn Aiello, Sammy Davis, Mary Grace Kelley, Erin O'Neil, Sarah Steele and Samantha Sutherland each secured a place on the team for the second straight year.

Among the first-time selections were rising sophomores Alexandra Calderone, Deziray De Sousa and Natasza Tarnowski. That trio joined Victoria Bach, Maddie Elia and Mary Parker as first-time All-Academic honorees.
