Dearth Shines with Boston Cannons

August 1, 2017

BOSTON - Former Boston University men's lacrosse standout Cal Dearth made his Major League Lacrosse debut on July 27 with the Boston Cannons and has already made an impact with the team.

Playing against the Charlotte Hounds, which selected him in the fourth round of this year's draft, Dearth scored a goal on his first professional shot when he backed down a defender and ripped a shot past the goaltender.

Dearth was even better this past Saturday in his first home game with the Cannons. He scored two more goals on three shots as part of a hard-fought loss to the Florida Launch at Harvard Stadium. The Cannons did not qualify for the postseason, so Dearth's final game of the year will take place this Saturday, Aug. 5, at home against the Atlanta Blaze.

A three-time All-Patriot League honoree, Dearth finished his collegiate career with 83 goals and 70 assists for 153 points, earning All-America accolades from both Inside Lacrosse and the USILA this past season. He and classmate Dominick Calisto were the first two Terriers in program history to be drafted into the MLL this past summer. Calisto was also taken in the fourth round, going to the Ohio Machine.
