Terriers Draw Even with Haiti National Olympic Team, 2-2, at Terrier Tailgate

BOSTON - Both seniors Esen Harris and Eric Mubang found the back of the net to help the Boston University men's soccer team post a 2-2 draw against the Haiti National Olympic Team in front of 2,311 fans on a rainy Sunday evening at the 11th-annual Terrier Tailgate.

Sophomore Jerry Ozor keyed the offense with two assists in the second half, while Jonel Desire led Haiti with a pair of goals in the final 25 minutes of action. Due to the exhibition format, the teams did not participate in an overtime or penalty kick shootout.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Sophomore Michael Bernardi kept Haiti off the scoreboard with a save at 1:53 and 15:54, respectively, as the BU backline blocked the rebound attempt seconds during Haiti's second quality chance.
  • Ozor managed to corral a pass at the top of the box in the 29th minute and get two shots off, but Luis Valendi Odelus saved both attempts.
  • The Terriers got on the board in the 53rd minute after forcing a turnover on their half of the field, as Harris zipped through a pair of defenders and beat out the goalkeeper outside the box to collect a quick pass from junior Troy Phoa and shoot at an empty net.
  • Two minutes later, sophomore Satchel Cortet made a quick pass to Ozor, who found Mubang at the top of the box for a hard low shot at the right post for the 2-0 advantage.
  • Jonel Desire led Haiti back by first intercepting a failed clear from 20 yards out and firing at the left post at 66:02.
  • From the exact same spot four minutes later during a counter attack, Desire sent a low shot past a diving senior Bjorn Kammholz inside the right post for the equalizer.
  • Haiti had three more shot attempts in the final 19 minutes of action, as the game ended in a draw.
GAME NOTES

  • Bernardi played the entire first half at net, and Kammholz played the second half.
  • Posting two assists today, Ozor led the Terriers last season with five assists, highlighted by two helpers in a 2-0 win over Brown.
NEXT UP: ALBANY
  • Playing their third game in five days, the Terriers will next travel to former America East foe Albany on Tuesday (Sept. 5) with action slated to begin at 7 p.m.
