No. 13/15 Terriers Fall at Merrimack, 4-0, in Hockey East Opener

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. - The No. 13/15 Boston University men's ice hockey team dropped a 4-0 road contest to Merrimack on Saturday evening at Lawler Arena in the Hockey East opener.
The Warriors scored twice in the first eight minutes of play and added one more in each of the final two periods before Craig Pantano secured the shutout with a 34-save performance.
BU falls to 0-3-0 on the year while Merrimack improves to 2-3-0.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Warriors jumped out to an early lead with Michael Babcock knocking in a rebound at 3:06 on the first power play of the evening.
- Exactly four minutes later, Logan Coomes doubled Merrimack's lead when he converted a shot off a nice pass Jordan Seifert.
- The home squad used its power play once again to make it a 3-0 contest with Johnathan Kovacevic scoring at 3:25 of the middle period.
- Merrimack got an empty-netter from Laine McKay with 2:18 to play to create the 4-0 final.
GAME NOTES
- BU held a 34-28 shot advantage but came up empty on seven power-play chances.
- Junior Jake Oettinger made 14 saves on 17 shots before being replaced by redshirt junior Max Prawdzik after Merrimack's third goal.
- Prawdzik stopped all 10 shots he faced.
- Merrimack went 2-for-5 on its power play.
UP NEXT
- BU returns to action on Friday (Oct. 26) for its home opener against No. 5 Providence.
- Game time at Agganis Arena is set for 7:30 p.m.
