Highlighted by eight home games at Nickerson Field, the Boston University men's lacrosse team announced its 2019 schedule on Wednesday.
Fans can purchase season tickets for both men's and women's lacrosse online through GoTerriers.com by clicking here, or by calling the Agganis Arena ticket office at 617-353-GOBU, then choosing option 2. In addition, fans can buy tickets in person at the Agganis Arena ticket office.
The Terriers will face five teams ranked in the top 25 by Inside Lacrosse in the publication's annual Face-Off Yearbook. BU will host three of those opponents (Bryant, Vermont, Loyola) at Nickerson Field.
BU will begin its sixth season on Sunday, Feb. 3, when the Terriers travel to Providence to face the Friars in what has become one of the most exciting season-opening matchups in the country. BU and Providence have gone to overtime in each of the last two season openers, with the Terriers winning both of those contests. Last year, BU tied the game with 7.8 seconds remaining in regulation before clinching the victory in overtime.
For the second straight year, the Terriers will trek to Ohio State during the second weekend of February for a Feb. 9 clash with the Buckeyes. Following that, BU will host its 2019 home opener against Dartmouth on Saturday, Feb. 16 at noon. The Terriers topped the Big Green, 10-4, last year at Nickerson Field.
Two straight Tuesday tilts will finish the Terriers' February fixture list, as BU will travel to Sacred Heart on Feb. 19 before hosting Bryant on Feb. 26. The Terriers will then welcome Vermont to Nickerson Field on March 2 (12 p.m.) before beginning their Patriot League slate on March 9 at Colgate.
BU will host three straight games at Nickerson Field in March, beginning with a Patriot League quarterfinal rematch against Bucknell on the 16th (12 p.m.). The Terriers scored the final six goals of the game to knock off the then-No. 10 Bison, 12-11, last April to advance to the conference semifinals for the second straight season. A midweek matchup with Harvard on March 19 (7 p.m.) and a visit from Lafayette on March 23 (12 p.m.) round out that homestand.
The Terriers will head to Lehigh (March 30) and Army West Point (April 6) before hosting defending conference champion Loyola Maryland (April 13) and Holy Cross (April 20) to finish the regular-season home schedule. BU will finish the regular season with a trip to Navy on April 26. The Patriot League postseason will begin with the quarterfinal round on Tuesday, April 30, at the higher seeds. The league's top seed will host the semifinals and championship on May 3 and 5.
