Gray Named Inside Lacrosse Preseason All-American
December 17, 2018 | Men's Lacrosse
BALTIMORE - Sophomore Chris Gray of the Boston University men's lacrosse team was named a preseason All-American by Inside Lacrosse, the publication announced on Monday.
Gray earned a third-team preseason selection following a record-setting freshman campaign in 2018 . He scored 31 goals and led the Terriers with 40 assists and 71 points, both of which were single-season program records. Gray finished the season ninth overall and first among NCAA rookies in assists, and he was also 14th overall and second among all freshmen in total points. In addition, the dynamic rookie was one of just seven players in the entire country to score 30 goals and add 40 assists in 2018. Gray saved his best for when it counted the most, as he tallied five goals and four assists while also recording zero turnovers in the Terriers' thrilling 12-11 comeback win at then-No. 10 Bucknell in the Patriot League quarterfinals.
All that success added up to several year-end honors for the Wading River, New York, native. Gray was the 2018 Patriot League Rookie of the Year and was one of just three freshmen to be chosen as an Inside Lacrosse All-American last year. In addition, he also became the third Terrier in program history to garner All-America accolades from the USILA.
This is the third time that a Terrier has picked up preseason All-America honors from Inside Lacrosse. Both Cal Dearth ('17) and Sam Talkow ('17) were two-time preseason All-Americans.
