Gray Posts Record Day in Heartbreaking OT Loss at Harvard

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Freshman Chris Gray set new single-game program records with eight assists and 10 points, but the Boston University men's lacrosse team was edged in overtime, 19-18, on Tuesday night at Harvard Stadium.

GRAY CONTINUES HIS TERRIFIC DEBUT SEASON WITH RECORD DAY

After matching the program record for points in a game last week with seven, Gray bested that with a 10-point outing on Tuesday.
The freshman phenom dished out a program-best eight assists in addition to a pair of goals.
Gray has now tallied a team-high 41 points thanks to 16 goals and a team-best 25 assists.
He leads all NCAA rookies in both of those categories.

BURR MATCHES A CAREER HIGH

Junior James Burr matched career highs with five goals and six points.
He previously accomplished both of those feats at Air Force on March 3.
Burr now has a team-high 24 goals to go along with seven assists for 31 points.

MACLEAN RECORDS A CAREER DAY

Sophomore John MacLean scored a career-high four goals for the third time this season.
MacLean now has 15 goals and seven assists for 22 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Harvard opened the scoring just 2:05 into the proceedings, but Burr answered with a man-up goal to tie the game, 1-1.
The Crimson grabbed a 4-1 lead with 3:06 left in the quarter, but the Terriers immediately responded to begin a crucial run of scoring.
Freshman Sean Christman won the ensuing faceoff and fed Gray for a goal just six seconds after the Crimson scored. For Christman, that was his first collegiate assist.
That Gray marker began a 5-0 run for the Terriers, which included a buzzer-beating goal from senior Ryan Hilburn.
Harvard eventually tied the game, 7-7, but BU regained a two-goal edge when senior Hayden Ruiz beat the buzzer with 1.4 seconds left in the half.
The Crimson struck first in the third quarter to make it a 9-8 Terrier lead.
BU rattled off six of the next seven goals, however, to stake itself a 15-9 advantage.
Harvard hung tough, and after the Terriers held an 18-12 lead halfway through the final quarter, the Crimson tied the score with less than a minute to play.
BU won the next draw but was unable to convert on the final possession of regulation.
The Crimson then won the opening faceoff of overtime to set up its game-winning goal.

FIFTY STRAIGHT AND COUNTING FOR WILSON

Senior Jack Wilson moved his point streak to 52 games with his four goals and one assist on Tuesday.
Wilson has only been held without a point once in his entire career.
In those 52 games, Wilson has tallied 90 goals and 52 assists for 142 points.
Wilson has tallied 19 goals and eight assists for 27 points this year.
He has notched four hat tricks this season and has found the back of the net in each of the last eight contests.

GAME NOTES

Christman won a career-best 18 of the 35 draws he took and collected a career-high 13 ground balls.
Junior Brendan Homire found the back of the net while freshman Michael Doxie and junior Thomas Schmidt each added an assist.
Sophomore goaltender Joe McSorley made a career-high 14 saves.
BU went 15-of-16 in the clearing game and converted both of its man-up chances.
