WAKEFIELD, Mass. - For the fourth time this season, sophomore goaltender Corinne Schroeder of the Boston University women's ice hockey team has been named Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week.
Schroeder was sensational in both her starts this past week, going 2-0-0 with a .958 save percentage and a 1.35 goals-against average. She began her week by backstopping the Terriers to their first Beanpot title since 1981. Schroeder made 30 saves, including nine in overtime, in the 3-2 victory at Harvard. She then made a season-high 39 saves in a 2-1 win at New Hampshire on Sunday.
A native of Elm Creek, Manitoba, Schroeder has been sensational all season for the Terriers. She boasts a 1.88 goals-against average and a .932 save percentage in 27 starts. Schroeder has been especially terrific of late, having allowed just one even-strength goal over her last three starts.
BU has clinched home-ice advantage for the Hockey East quarterfinals and will finish the regular-season schedule with a pair of games this weekend, beginning with a trip to UConn on Friday night.
