Five Terriers Named Hockey East All-Stars

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Five members of the Boston University women's ice hockey team were selected as Hockey East All-Stars, as announced on Friday night at the league's annual awards banquet.

Sophomore Jesse Compher, runner-up for Hockey East Player of the Year, was unanimously named a First Team All-Star. Redshirt junior Sammy Davis and junior Abby Cook were both second-team selections while sophomore Corinne Schroeder secured third-team honors and senior Reagan Rust earned an honorable mention nod. Including this year, the Terriers have earned 17 first-team selections and 17 second-team honors.

Compher is the 17th Terrier to be chosen as a Hockey East First Team All-Star. A 2019 Patty Kazmaier top-10 finalist, Compher led the league with 55 points and 38 assists in 34 regular-season games. No other Hockey East skater had a better plus-minus (+37) than Compher, who recorded at least one point in 28 regular-season contests. The Northbrook, Illinois, native led the country with 24 primary assists and notched at least one helper in a nation-leading 27 different games. She enters this weekend with 60 points thanks to 17 goals and 43 assists.

If Hockey East had an award for comeback player of the year, Davis would be a lock to claim it. After missing all of last year due to injury, Davis returned to the Terrier lineup and posted career highs in goals (23), assists (24) and points (47) during the regular season. Davis finished in the top 10 in both goals and assists among all NCAA skaters, and she also recorded . an impressive 17 multi-point games. The 2019 Beanpot MVP scored five game-winning goals, including the overtime-winner that claimed the school's first Beanpot title since 1981. She enters Saturday with 52 points thanks to 25 goals and 27 assists.

Cook earned her second straight all-star selection following another spectacular season on the Terrier blue line. She concluded the regular season third among league defenders with 25 points thanks to 18 assists and a career-high seven goals, and she was also a plus-17 in 34 games. After a pair of assists in the quarterfinals, Cookl is currently third among Hockey East defenders with a career-high 27 points. She is also third among WHEA defenders in goals (7) and assists (20). No other league blue liner recorded more assists (12) or points (16) away from home than Cook, who has played some of her best hockey down the stretch. She enters the weekend on a four-game point streak (4a) and has notched a point in 12 of the last 14 games (1g, 13a).

Schroeder was sensational between the pipes for the Terriers this season. In 29 regular-season starts, Schroeder posted a .934 save percentage and a 1.85 goals-against average along with the first two shutouts of her career. She allowed one goal or less an impressive 14 times during the regular season and twice more during the quarterfinals. The National Goaltender of the Month for December, Schroeder was also a four-time Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week. She has been outstanding down the stretch for the Terriers, as she leads the league with a 1.25 goals-against average and a .957 save percentage in her last seven starts.

Rust was a major reason why the Terriers allowed a league-low 1.85 goals per game during the regular season. In 34 games, Rust tallied four goals and nine assists for 13 points, and she finished the regular season as a plus-17. Rust scored the shootout-winning goal to send the Terriers past No. 3 Northeastern and into the Beanpot final, and she followed that with the first goal of the game in the Terriers' victory the next week over Harvard.
