BOSTON – Looking to remain perfect at home, the Boston University softball team will welcome Colgate for a three-game Patriot League weekend series with Saturday's doubleheader slated to begin at 12 p.m.

The Terriers (20-17, 5-1 PL) were on a seven-game win streak before dropping a 1-0 decision at Lehigh last Sunday and are now looking to bounce back from Thursday's 4-2 loss at Harvard. The Raiders (17-18, 3-3 PL) opened conference play by suffering a three-game loss and have gone 6-3 since, including a doubleheader split on Tuesday at Cornell.

TERRIER TIDBITS
  • BU opened conference play with a three-game sweep over Holy Cross by a combined score of 12-1 (7-1, 3-0, 2-0) and then won its first series at Lehigh in three ties (2-0, 2-0, 0-1).
  • The Terriers are 6-0 at home with three wins against the Crusaders and three victories against non-conference opponents, Boston College (3-2), Rhode Island (4-1) and UMass (3-1).
  • BU is batting .237 while holding opponents to .235 ... The Terriers lead in both triples (7-2) and homers (18-11) with opponents holding a 36-25 advantage in doubles.
  • Senior Emily Morrow remains the team leader in average at .310 with four doubles, two triples, a homer and 16 RBIs.
  • Freshman Aliyah Huerta-Leipner (.264) was a homer shy of the cycle on Thursday against Harvard and is currently tied for the team lead with senior Alexa Poce (.248) at five doubles while posting 18 RBIs and 20 runs scored.
  • Senior Alex Heinen (.288) owns seven homers and team-high 24 RBIs with 17 runs scored.
  • Even after allowing four runs on Thursday at Harvard, sophomore Ali DuBois (14-8) owns a stellar 1.48 ERA with 135 strikeouts in 132.0 innings ... She is holding opponents to a .217 average.
  • Freshman Emily Gant (5-7, 2.00 ERA) has tallied 103 strikeouts in 87.2 innings while holding opponents to .237 ... She has made 12 starts with classmate Julia Handfield (1-2, 4.87 ERA) earning four of her own.
SCOUTING COLGATE
  • The Raiders are 3-3 in conference play after losing the Bison by a combined score of 25-10 (6-1, 10-8, 9-1) and defeating Army West Point by a combined score of 18-14 (10-9, 4-3, 4-2).
  • Colgate has yet to play at home and is currently 8-9 in true road games with non-conference wins against Albany, Jacksonville and George Mason.
  • Colgate's offense has been clicking batting .285 with 65 doubles and 23 homers, but opponents are hitting an even better .323.
  • Meghan Romero is hitting .372 with 14 doubles, three homers and 21 RBIs, while Jordan Miller is batting .342 with team-high six homers and 29 RBIs.
  • Both Virginia Irby (.324) and Morgan Farrah (.318) own four homers apiece and have combined for 36 RBIs.
  • Bella Crow (9-7, 3.47 ERA) owns the most starts at 18 with 45 strikeouts in 92.2 innings, while both Jessica Hay (5-8, 5.15 ERA) and Kaitlyn Borruso (3-3, 6.02 ERA) have combined for 17 starts.
SERIES HISTORY
  • BU is 14-1 all-time against the Raiders and is on an eight-game win streak following a 1-0 loss at Colgate in 2016.
  • Last season, the Terriers posted a sweep at Colgate by a combined score of 19-3 (8-0, 6-2, 5-10.
  • Two years ago at home, BU survived a 9-7 10-inning scare and then won the final two games by a combined score of 12-1.
