WAKEFIELD, Mass. - Fifteen members of the Boston University women's ice hockey team earned a spot on the 2018-19 Hockey East All-Academic Team, the league announced on Thursday.
Each Terrier on the squad achieved a grade-point average of 3.0 or better in each of the two semesters that they competed in during the 2018-19 season. BU has now placed 10 or more players on the All-Academic squad seven times, including each of the last five years.
Mary Grace Kelley and Sammy Davis both reached Distinguished Scholar status, having qualified for the All-Academic Team in each of their four seasons with the Terriers. Kelley graduated from the College of Arts and Sciences with a degree in biology, while Davis graduated from Sargent College with a degree in behavioral health. Davis, who missed all of the 2017-18 campaign due to injury, will return to the Terriers for a fifth year in 2019-20.
Rising seniors Alexandra Calderone, Deziray De Sousa and Natasza Tarnowski all earned their third straight All-Academic nod. Like Davis, Calderone missed the entire 2017-18 campaign and now has two years of eligibility remaining. Connor Galway, who graduated in May from the Questrom School of Business with a degree in business administration and management, was selected to the squad for a second straight season.
Three rising juniors - Rachel Allen, Corinne Schroeder and Kristina Schuler - were tabbed for the team for the second time in as many tries, as was rising senior Abbey Stanley, who just completed her second season with the Terriers as a transfer. Rising senior Breanna Scarpaci secured a place on the team for a second consecutive campaign while classmates Abby Cook and Katie Shannahan earned an All-Academic selection for the first time. Freshmen Courtney Correia and Kate Stuart both shined in the classroom in their first year at BU and made the list as well.
