Schroeder Named Hockey East Goaltender of the Month
January 6, 2020 | Women's Ice Hockey
WAKEFIELD, Mass. - For the second time this season, junior Corinne Schroeder of the Boston University women's ice hockey team has been named Hockey East Goaltender of the Month, the league office announced on Monday.
Schroeder, who the league selected as its top goaltender for October, was sensational in December, posting a nation-leading .979 save percentage among goalies that started at least two games. She allowed just one goal in a weekend sweep of then-No. 8 Boston College, making 21 saves in a 6-0 win on Dec. 6 before recording 25 saves in a 2-1 triumph the next day. Schroeder stopped 46 of the 47 shots she faced against the Eagles and did not allow an even-strength goal.
A native of Elm Creek, Manitoba, Schroeder ranks third in the NCAA with a .943 save percentage and fifth in the country with a 1.49 goals-against average. Schroeder has recorded two shutouts this season and has been nearly unbeatable on the road, sporting a .957 save percentage and a nation-best seven wins away from Walter Brown Arena.
This is the third time that Schroeder has earned Goaltender of the Month honors from Hockey East. She received that recognition, along with National Goaltender of the Month accolades, in December 2018.
