GOOD TO BE HOME

  • The Terriers are 13-2 all-time at Walter Brown  Arena in the Hockey East quarterfinals.
  • Their last home loss in the playoffs came against New Hampshire in game one of the 2017 quarterfinals.
  • BU boasts a 13-4 home postseason record that includes two NCAA Tournament victories.
  • BU will only have to play one true road game the rest of the season.
  • The league's championship weekend will take place at Merrimack.
  • If the Terriers advance to the NCAA Tournament, they will play their quarterfinal game on the road.
  • The Frozen Four is at Agganis Arena.
  • BU is 10-2-4 at home this season.

TERRIER TOURNAMENT TIDBITS

  • BU is the most successful team in Hockey East Tournament history, winning a record five titles and owning a league-best 25-10 record.
  • The Terriers are in search of their 12th Hockey East semifinal appearance.
  • BU has missed the semifinals just once (2018) since its first postseason appearance in 2008.
  • If the Terriers advance to the title game, it will ensure that every BU graduating class since 2010 has played in at least one league championship contest.

BU AND MAINE IN THE TOURNAMENT

  • The Terriers and Black Bears have met just once in the Hockey East playoffs, as Maine defeated BU in a best-of-three quarterfinal series in Orono in 2018.
  • That series went the distance, with Maine earning a 4-3 overtime win in the deciding contest at Alfond Arena.
  • This will be Maine's first playoff appearance since 2018, when the Black Bears fell to Northeastern in the semifinals.
  • The Black Bears have never won a playoff game away from Alfond Arena.

HISTORY WITH THE BLACK BEARS

  • BU is 30-15-3 all-time against Maine, including a 14-6-1 record at Walter Brown Arena and a 15-6-2 record in Boston.
  • The Terriers are 3-0-1 in their last four games against the Black Bears, including a 2-0-1 mark this season.
  • All of the Terriers' last five losses to Maine have been by just one goal.

BEST OF BU AGAINST MAINE

SCOUTING THE BLACK BEARS

  • Maine concluded the regular season with a 2-2 tie at Vermont last Saturday.
  • The Black Bears are 3-1-3 in their last seven games, with five of those tilts requiring overtime.
  • In fact, Maine has gone to overtime in each of its last three contests, posting a 1-1-1 record.
  • Senior Tereza Vanišová leads Maine with 30 points thanks to 13 goals and 17 assists.
  • Freshman Ida Kuoppala has scored a team-high 17 goals and is second on the squad with 29 points.
  • She had a nine-game point streak (9g, 5a) snapped at Vermont on Saturday.
  • Sophomores Līga Miljone and Ali Beltz  are tied for the team lead with 18 assists.
  • Senior goaltender Carly Jackson has started each of the last 18 games for the Black Bears.
  • She is 10-10-7 in 27 total starts, posting a 1.97 goals-against average and a .930 save percentage.
  • Jackson allowed three goals in each of her two starts at BU; she held the Terriers to two goals at Maine on Oct. 20, 2019.

DAVIS EARNS WEEKLY HONOR

  • Redshirt senior Sammy Davis is the reigning Hockey East Player of the Week.
  • Davis, along with linemate Natasza Tarnowski, led the league with four points thanks to a conference-best three assists.
  • That included a goal and two assists in the 6-2 win over UConn on Feb. 21.

LEADING BY EXAMPLE

  • Redshirt senior Sammy Davis leads the Terriers in goals (17), assists (24) and points (41).
  • She is among the top 10 in Hockey East in all three of those categories and has reached 40 points in back-to-back seasons.
  • Davis ranks third in points, tied for second in assists and tied for fifth in goals among Hockey East skaters.
  • She enters the weekend having notched a point in eight straight games and nine of her last 10 appearances, totaling six goals and nine assists in that span.
  • Davis had a seven-game point streak snapped on Jan. 10 but has since tallied 17 points (8g, 9a) over her last 12 games.
  • She has factored on three of the Terriers' last six game-winning goals.
  • BU is 21-2-3 when Davis records a point and 11-1-2 when she scores a goal.
COMPHER NAMED TO TEAM USA ROSTER
  • Junior Jesse Compher was named to the U.S. Women's National Team that will compete in the 2020 IIHF Women's World Championship this April in Canada.
  • This is the second straight year that Compher will represent the United States at the Women's World Championship.
  • She helped Team USA claim gold at last year's tournament in Finland.
  • Compher also appeared for the senior national team in the first two games of the 2019-20 Rivalry Series against Canada this past December, centering her country's top line in the second of those two contests.

THE COMPHER FACTOR

  • Since junior Jesse Compher made her season debut on Nov. 9, BU is 19-3-3.
  • Compher has notched 13 goals, 15 assists and 28 points this year.
  • BU is 14-0-1 this season when Compher collects a point.
  • Compher has also generated a team-high 94 shots on goal since Nov. 9 and has won 232 faceoffs.

TWENTY WINS YET AGAIN

  • BU clinched its second straight 20-win season on Feb. 8 at Holy Cross.
  • The Terriers have reached 20 wins in eight of their 15 seasons at the Division I level.
  • Entering the weekend with 24 wins, BU needs just two more victories to eclipse its highest win total since 2014-15, which would be the third most wins (26) in program history.
  • If BU wins the Hockey East title, the Terriers will match the record for wins in a season, which was set in the 2012-13 season during which the Terriers advanced to the NCAA title game.

SCHROEDER STILL SENSATIONAL

  • Junior Corinne Schroeder enters the weekend ranked fourth in the NCAA in both save percentage (.944) and goals-against average (1.50).
  • Schroeder, who notched her fourth shutout of the season on Feb. 15 against New Hampshire, is one of only two goaltenders in the country to have three shutouts with 30 or more saves.
  • She has allowed more than one even-strength goal just once over her last six starts dating back to Jan. 28.

DEFENSE IS STINGY

  • BU has allowed just 1.56 goals per game, which is fourth-best in the country and second-best in Hockey East.
  • At even strength (not including empty-netters), BU gives up one goal per game.
  • BU has allowed just two even-strength goals over the last 278:27.

OFF TO FAST STARTS

  • The Terriers have scored the opening goal in 29 of their 34 games this year.
  • That ranks first in the NCAA.
  • BU is 18-1-1 this season when leading after the first period, with that lone loss coming on Jan. 28 at Northeastern.

COOKIN' UP SOME POINTS

  • Senior Abby Cook made history on Saturday against UConn, as she became the first Terrier defender to score 10 goals in a single season.
  • She is in the midst of a career year, as in addition to her career-high 10 goals, Cook has totaled a career-best 29 points.
  • Cook is two points away from reaching 100 for her career.
  • She would be the eighth Hockey East defender in league history to collect 100 career points.
  • Cook has collected eight points (3g, 5a) in her last seven games.
  • Her goal on Saturday proved to be her fifth game-winner of the season, which leads all NCAA defenders.
  • Only one other league defender has recorded more points than Cook this season, though Cook does lead all Hockey East blue liners in goals, assists and points on the power play.
  • Cook has also blocked 43 shots and is a plus-15 this year.
