Mattivi Named to Hockey East All-Rookie Team
March 4, 2020 | Women's Ice Hockey
WAKEFIELD, Mass. - Freshman defender Nadia Mattivi of the Boston University women's ice hockey team was named to the Hockey East All-Rookie Team, the league announced on Wednesday.
Mattivi had an excellent debut season for the Terriers, totaling 13 points on five goals and eight assists. That point total is fourth among Hockey East freshmen defenders. One of the steadiest blue liners in the conference, Mattivi finished second among Hockey East rookie defenders in plus/minus (+17), a mark that ranked second overall on the Terriers, and was a minus player in just three games all season. In fact, Mattivi only registered a minus rating on eight goals all year; only five other league defenders were above a plus-10 and were a minus player on eight or fewer occasions.
A native of Italy, also blocked 40 shots, generated 45 shots on goal and factored on three game-winning goals. Her first career point came in a 2-1 win at Providence on Nov. 9, while her first career goal opened the scoring in a 3-2 victory at Vermont on Nov. 23. BU was 10-0-2 when Mattivi recorded at least one point.
This is the 12th straight season that at least one Terrier has been named to the Hockey East All-Rookie Team.
