BOSTON - The Boston University women's ice hockey team will play its first games of 2021 this weekend, as the Terriers welcome Maine to Walter Brown Arena for a weekend series that begins on Saturday night at 6:30 p.m. The teams will conclude the two-game set on Sunday at 3.

Saturday's showdown will mark the first time the Terriers have competed at Walter Brown Arena since a Hockey East quarterfinal matchup with Maine on Feb. 29. Additionally, Saturday will feature the first-ever BU hockey doubleheader at Walter Brown Arena, as the men will host Maine earlier that day at 1.

BU last played on Dec. 11, suffering a 4-1 setback at UConn. Junior Mackenna Parker scored the Terriers' lone goal, with junior Courtney Correia and sophomore Julia Nearis providing the assists. Correia leads the Terriers with four points thanks to four assists, having notched a helper in all three tilts. She enters the weekend with a league-best 1.33 assists per game as well as a league-high 1.33 points per game.

Maine, which has yet to play at home this season, has lost three straight games and four of its last five contests, though all five of those games were against top-10 opponents. The Black Bears' last three games have been at No. 4 Northeastern; Maine dropped a 3-2 decision in OT this past Sunday and suffered 1-0 and 3-0 setbacks on Jan. 3-4.

Sophomore forward Ida Kuoppala leads the Black Bears with six points thanks to a team-high four goals. Sophomore defender Ella MacLean leads the team with three assists and is one of five skaters with at least three points. Senior goaltender Loryn Porter has started all nine games for Maine, posting a 1.88 goals-against average and a .948 save percentage.
