The No. 12/15 Boston University men's ice hocke team will host Sacred Heart for a pair of games this weekend at Agganis Arena. Puck drop on Friday is scheduled for 7:30 p.m., with Saturday's showdown slated for 7 p.m.
Effective Oct. 15, 2021, all guests 12 years and older will be required to present proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 or a qualifying negative COVID-19 test to gain access to Agganis Arena and the Case Center for ice hockey and basketball games. TERRIER TIDBITS
- BU split its season-opening series with UConn last weekend, earning a 2-1 road win on Oct. 8 before suffering a 5-1 setback at home the next night.
- Nine different Terriers have registered a point over the two games.
- Juniors Matt Brown, Robert Mastrosimone and Sam Stevens all lit the lamp.
- Senior Joseph Campolieto, junior Domenick Fensore, freshman Ty Gallagher, junior Case McCarthy, junior Wilmer Skoog and sophomore Cade Webber all have one assist apiece.
- BU finished its opening weekend a perfect 7-for-7 on the penalty kill.
- Thirteen different Terriers wore a BU uniform at Agganis for the first time.
SCOUTING THE PIONEERS
- Sacred Heart fell to 0-2-0 on the season with a 4-2 loss at Merrimack on Oct. 9.
- That followed a 6-3 loss at UConn in the Pioneers' season opener on Oct. 2
- Braeden Tuck tallied both goals for Sacred Heart at Merrimack, with his second goal of the night giving the Pioneers a brief 2-1 lead.
- Tuck is one of five Pioneers with two points this season.
- Austin Magera leads Sacred Heart with two assists while Logan Britt, Kevin Lombardi and Ryan Steele all have one goal and one assist apiece.
- Ryan Steele is the brother of Sarah Steele, a four-year standout with the BU women's ice hockey team who graduated in 2017 and currently plays professionally for the Toronto Six of the Premier Hockey Federation.
- Josh Benson started both games between the pipes for Sacred Heart.
- He owns an .868 save percentage and a 3.64 goals-against average.
- Justin Robbins relieved Benson in the second period at Merrimack and allowed three goals in 34:47 of work.
- Robbins made 21 saves against the Warriors.
SERIES HISTORY
- The Terriers and Pioneers have met just twice before, with both teams earning a shutout victory at Agganis Arena.
- BU bested Sacred Heart, 7-0, on Oct. 21, 2016, while the Pioneers earned a 4-0 win on Nov. 26, 2019.
- Following this weekend's series, the Terriers will play a home-and-home series against Merrimack that begins on Friday, Oct. 22, in North Andover, Mass., at 7 p.m.
