COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Sophomores
Drew Commesso and
Dylan Peterson of the Boston University men's ice hockey team have been named to the preliminary roster for the 2022 U.S. National Junior Team, USA Hockey announced on Tuesday.
This is the second straight year that Commesso has earned an invite to the U.S. National Junior Team camp while Peterson is a first-time selection. The camp will take place at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, Mich., starting Dec. 12. Both players will compete for a spot on the 25-man roster that will represent the United States at the 2022 IIHF World Junior Championship, which will be held Dec. 26, 2021 - Jan. 5, 2022 in Edmonton and Red Deer, Alberta.
A third-round draft choice of the St. Louis Blues in the 2020 NHL Draft, Peterson has been terrific in his second year with the Terriers, entering this weekend with 10 points thanks to six goals and four assists in 14 games, surpassing his goal (3), assist (3) and point (6) totals from his rookie campaign. In 30 career games, Peterson has recorded nine goals and seven assists for 16 points. A second-round selection by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2020 NHL Draft, Commesso has started all but one game for the Terriers this season and has been between the pipes for each win. In 25 career games, Commesso has posted a 3.06 goals-against average and a .902 save percentage.
No other Hockey East school had more student-athletes named to the 31-player preliminary roster than BU, which has boasted 19 representatives on Team USA at World Juniors since 2014.
