BOSTON - After a hiatus of over a year, the Battle of Comm. Ave. resumes this weekend as the Boston University women's ice hockey team will face sixth-ranked Boston College in a home-and-home series that begins Friday at Conte Forum.
NESN+ will carry both games, with the weekend opener scheduled for 2 p.m. The Green Line rivals will then meet at Walter Brown Arena on Saturday at 4:30. Information on how to watch both contests is located at

Prior to Saturday's game, the Terriers will honor their five seniors - Rachel Allen, Jesse Compher, Nara Elia, Corinne Schroeder and Kristina Schuler. Those five players have helped BU win 64 games and the 2019 Beanpot championship. They are the only senior class in program history to advance to the title game of every Beanpot in which they played.
These two contests will be the final regular-season games of the season, as the Hockey East playoffs are scheduled to begin this Wednesday. BU is currently in seventh place in the Hockey East Power Index, needing to get into the top six to qualify for the quarterfinals and avoid an opening-round game.
BU and BC last met on Feb. 4, 2020, when the Terriers shut out the Eagles, 4-0, in the opening round of the Beanpot at Walter Brown. BU has won five of the last seven regular-season games against BC and has swept the last two weekend series between the two schools. During the Terriers current three-game win streak, they have allowed just one goal. Schroeder has picked up two shutouts during that streak, posting a 0.33 goals-against average and a .987 save percentage in those three victories.
Compher, the reigning Hockey East Player of the Week, has totaled six goals and 12 assists for 18 points in her career against BC. This season, Compher leads the Terriers in goals (5) and points (8) in just six games this season. She has been held off the score sheet just once this season and has notched a goal in four of her six appearances.
BC enters the weekend having won nine straight games and 11 of its last 12 contests, including a 2-1 overtime win over No. 10 Providence this past Friday. Juniors Kelly Browne and Savannah Norcross lead BC with 18 points apiece. Browne and sophomore Hadley Hartmetz have dished out a team-high 12 assists while Norcross is the Eagles' top goal scorer with 10 markers. Junior goaltender Abigail Levy has started six of the last seven games in which she has appeared, going 5-1-0 with a .962 save percentage and a 1.13 goals-against average Levy has started each of the Eagles' last two tilts, earning a 4-0 win at UConn on Jan. 31 in addition to the 2-1 triumph this past weekend.
