CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Freshman Tommy Bourque and junior Matt Garber of the Boston University men's lacrosse team each earned a Patriot League weekly award, the conference announced on Monday.
Bourque was selected as the league's Rookie of the Week while Garber garnered Goalkeeper of the Week honors for the second straight Monday. Both players were terrific in the Terriers' 16-11 win over Colgate on Saturday.
Making his first collegiate start at midfield, Bourque tallied a career-best two goals against the Raiders. Both of his strikes came in the second half, including the opening goal of the third quarter to continue a 4-0 BU run, as he helped the Terriers erase a halftime deficit. Bourque has tallied three of his four total goals over his last two games.
Garber made 11 saves and collected three ground balls on Saturday. He was at his best in the second half, as he made five of his 11 saves in the final 30 minutes, including four in the fourth quarter. Garber only allowed three goals in the second half to help the Terriers complete their comeback, and two of the goals he allowed in the game came while he was out of the cage on the 10-man ride. Garber is ninth in the nation with a .590 save percentage.
