BOSTON - The Boston University women's ice hockey team fell in overtime, 3-2, to No. 12 Providence on Friday evening at Walter Brown Arena in the opener of a home-and-home series.
Junior

BU gets a point in the league standings and moves to 3-6-0 overall and 2-5-0 in Hockey East play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Friars earned the first power play of the game and produced five shots on goal during the advantage but the Terriers' penalty kill was up to the task.
- BU opened the scoring at the 14:35 mark as sophomore Kylie Roberts collected the puck off a wide PC shot and skated up the ice before leaving it for Foulem, who weaved around the defense through the left side before beating PC netminder Sandra Abstreiter with a near-side shot.Â
- The Terriers committed a pair of penalties in the second period but the team's penalty kill came up big once again to keep the visitors off the board entering the third period.
- BU, however, gave the Friars a power-play chance early in the third and the Friars used it to record an equalizer.
- Ida Press scored off assists from Rachel Weiss and Caroline Peterson at the 2:18 mark of the third to make it a 1-1 contest.
- Less than two minutes later, the Terriers found themselves in a deficit as Noemi Neubauerove buried a chance from the slot at 3:45 to give the Friars a 2-1 lead.
- Martin's game-tying goal came on a 5-on-3 power play as the junior took a pass from senior Nadia Mattivi before finding the far corner from the edge of the left circle with 6:54 left in regulation.
- The teams finished the third period in a 2-2 deadlock to force an overtime session.
- BU created a grade-A chance midway through overtime but Abstreiter came up with a save to kickstart a rush that created a breakaway chance for Sara Hjalmarsson, who faked a shot before beating BU netminder Andrea Brändli with 2:23 left in overtime.

- The Terriers were 1-of-3 on the power play while the Friars were 1-of-4.
