AMESBURY, Mass. - Senior captain
Domenick Fensore of the Boston University men's ice hockey team has been named Hockey East Defender of the Week, the league announced on Monday.
Fensore was fantastic in the Terriers' weekend sweep of New Hampshire. The only league skater with two multi-point games this past weekend, Fensore led Hockey East with three goals, including both game-winning strikes, and finished with a league-high four points (3g, 1a). He broke a 3-3 tie midway through the third period in Friday's 6-3 win at UNH and added another goal late in the game to complete his first two-goal game as a Terrier. Fensore then opened the scoring late in the second stanza in the Terriers' 3-0 victory on Saturday at Agganis. The BU captain also had the primary assist on classmate
Jay O'Brien's insurance goal late in the third period.
The Terriers enter the week on a four-game win streak due in large part to Fensore's fine play. He has scored a goal in all four wins, totaling five goals and two assists for seven points in that span. Fensore has already exceeded his career high for goals in a season with six and has added seven assists for 13 points in 14 games, which is second only to teammate
Lane Hutson in points among Hockey East defensemen.
This is the fourth time Fensore has been named Hockey East Defender of the Week, as he earned the honor three times last season. This is also the third straight week at least one Terrier has claimed a weekly accolade from the league.
BU will conclude the first semester this weekend with a pair of road games, beginning with the 288th Battle of Comm. Ave. at Boston College. That game will be televised on ESPNEWS and streamed on ESPN+, with puck drop scheduled for 7 p.m.
