BOSTON - The Boston University men's ice hockey team was selected second in the Hockey East Coaches' Preseason Poll, as announced on Tuesday at the league's media day at TD Garden.
BU earned 94 points and one first-place vote to slot just nine points back of defending regular-season champion Northeastern. UMass was third with 93 points, followed by Providence (76 points), Boston College (71), UMass Lowell (71), UConn (70), Merrimack (44), New Hampshire (37), Vermont (29) and Maine (26).
The Terriers return 21 letter winners from last year's Beanpot-winning squad, including 10 seniors and eight of the team's nine top scorers. BU closed the 2021-22 regular season with a 15-3-1 record over its final 19 games.
First-year head coach Jay Pandolfo and the Terriers will host Bentley in their season opener at Agganis Arena on Oct. 1. Fans can purchase season tickets by clicking here.
