HOW IT HAPPENED
- BU started a skater down due to a protocol violation but held the Warriors from scoring on the early chance.
- Despite multiple great saves by Matses to start the game, a loose puck found its way over the goal line to give Merrimack a 1-0 lead at 7:03 of the first.
- The Terriers and the Warriors skated evenly through the second and most of the third period with a few penalties that did not result in goals for either team.
- BU went on the power play with 2:15 to go in the third when Merrimack got called for too many players on the ice.
- With Matses pulled to create a two-skater advantage for BU, Merrimack missed out on a chance to seal the game with the empty when an open shot by Sophie McKinley clanged off the right post.
- Moments later, Nicholson pounced on a rebound at the right post and put it off Merrimack netminder Callie Hogarth and in to send the game to overtime.
- The Terriers carried their momentum into the extra session and Foulem scored the game-winner off a pass from Mattivi, racing up the right side before gliding through the top of the circle and beating Hogarth top-shelf to push BU's winning streak to three.
