Schroeder Shutout Kicks Off PWHL Season; Nine Terriers on League Rosters

TORONTO - Former Boston University standout Corinne Schroeder '21 stopped all 29 shots she faced to earn first-star honors in the inaugural Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL) game on Monday afternoon at a sold-out Mattamy Athletic Centre as New York picked up a 4-0 road win over Toronto.
Schroeder denied every scoring chance Toronto put together in securing the first shutout in PWHL history. She is one of seven former BU players to be on a roster for the inaugural season as the Toronto team includes Jesse Compher '21, Rebecca Leslie '18 and Victoria Bach '18. Compher and Leslie played in Monday's contest while Bach will officially join the team next month after she completes her teacher's college certification at Brock University.
BU Hall of Famer Marie-Philip Poulin '15 and Sarah Lefort '16 are on the Montreal team and will begin their season on Tuesday at Ottawa while Boston and Kaleigh Fratkin '14 will host Minnesota and Abby Cook '20 on Wednesday. Sammy Davis '20 will begin the year on Boston's reserve roster.
Another Terrier alumna is involved with the PWHL as Alexis (Crossley) Miller '16 is the league's director of player experience.
