BOSTON - History will be made at TD Garden on Tuesday (Jan. 23) as Boston University meets No. 14 Northeastern in the title game of the 45th Dunkin' Women's Beanpot. The game, which is scheduled for 8 p.m., will be broadcast on NESN, ESPN+ and TSN+.
Northeastern is the defending Beanpot champion while the Terriers will be looking for their first Beanpot title since 2019. It will be the first-ever women's college hockey championship game played at the home of an NHL team.
This game will feature two of the top penalty-kill units in the country. Northeastern is tops in Hockey East at 92.5%, which ranks second nationally, and the Terriers are second in the league at 90.8%, which is good for fifth in the nation.

BEANPOT NOTES
- BU has won two Beanpot championships - one in 2019 and another in 1981 as a club team.
- The Terriers have reached the title game eight previous times, most recently in 2020 when Northeastern and BU skated to a 3-3 draw officially and then played a second overtime period where the Huskies scored to win the title.
- Due to a change in the NCAA rules two years ago, if that scenario plays out again, a shootout will determine the champion.
- The Terriers are 11-18-6 in Beanpot games since becoming a varsity program in 2005 and 19-57-6 dating back to the start of the tournament in 1979.
- The Terriers and Huskies have met in the Beanpot 12 times since BU became a varsity program and BU is 4-5-3 in those games.
- BU and NU met in the Beanpot semifinals last season with the Huskies earning a 4-1 win at BC.
TERRIER TIDBITS
- BU is 5-2-2 in its past nine games.
- The Terriers are averaging 7.2 shots more per game than their opponents this season. At this time last year, BU had a minus-8.9 shot differential, resulting in a plus-16.1 swing one year later.
- Senior Lacey Martin leads the team in both goals (12) and points (21) and has scored a goal in each of the past three games.
- Sophomore Clara Yuhn (6g, 11a) and senior Catherine Foulem (9g, 6a) have added 17 and 15 points, respectively.
- Sophomore Luisa Welcke has scored a goal in five of the past eight games while classmate Sydney Healey has a goal in three of the past four contests.
- Freshman Alex Law, the runner-up for Hockey East Rookie of the Month in December, has nine points (2g, 7a) in her past 12 games.
- Graduate student Alexa Matses (5-7-1, 2.54, .898) and freshman Mari Pietersen (5-2-1, 2.85, .864) shared time in goal for the first three months of the season and junior Callie Shanahan (1-1-1, 2.61, .869) returned from injury last week and has made three starts.
- Led by graduate student Nadia Mattivi (3g, 10a) and senior Tamara Giaquinto (2g, 9a), BU has five of the top 15 defenders in Hockey East in points.
- BU and Wisconsin are the only teams in the nation to have five defenders with at least nine points apiece.

SCOUTING THE HUSKIES
- Northeastern is 7-1-1 its past nine contests and is coming off a 2-1 home win over New Hampshire on Friday.
- The Huskies are currently third in Hockey East with a 9-7-1 record.
- Junior Skylar Irving leads the Huskies in assists (16) and points (21) this season.
- Graduate student Peyton Anderson has tallied 16 points on the strength of a team-best 11 goals.
- Gwyneth Phillips has started all 25 games for Northeastern and is third in Hockey East for both goals-against average (1.12) and save-percentage (.955).

SERIES HISTORY VS. NORTHEASTERN
- The Terriers are 32-33-9 all-time against Northeastern but the Huskies have won the last nine meetings.
- BU's last victory against the Huskies at Walter Brown Arena came on Oct. 8, 2021.
- They last met on Dec. 1 at Walter Brown with the Huskies rallying for a 2-1 overtime victory.
- The Terriers opened the season with a home-and-home weekend against the Huskies on Oct. 6-7 and fell by scores of 4-1 and 2-0.
