No. 5 Terriers to Host No. 11 Michigan for Weekend Series

The No. 5 Boston University men's ice hockey team will return home to Agganis Arena on Nov. 1 and 2 to host No. 11 Michigan for a weekend series. Puck drop on both Friday and Saturday is scheduled for 7 p.m.

TERRIER TIDBITS

  • The Terriers are facing a top-11 foe for the second straight weekend, as they most recently split a weekend series at No. 7 North Dakota on Oct. 25 and 26.
  • BU bounced back from a 7-2 loss on Friday to defeat the Fighting Hawks, 4-3, on Saturday.
  • The Terriers never trailed in that victory, with junior Devin Kaplan's shorthanded strike with at 12:28 of the third putting BU ahead, 3-2.
  • Kaplan then assisted on sophomore Tom Willander's power-play goal at 16:08 to make it 4-2.
  • Sophomore Jack Harvey joined Kaplan in recording a goal and an assist while junior co-captain Ryan Greene also lit the lamp.
  • Willander was named Hockey East Defender of the Week for his efforts, as he also earned an assist in the opening game of the weekend set.
  • Senior Tristan Amonte and junior Quinn Hutson scored on Friday as six different Terriers scored the team's six goals this past weekend.
  • Eleven different Terriers have lit the lamp this season.
  • Freshman Cole Eiserman was named Hockey East Rookie of the Month on Thursday.
  • No other freshman in Hockey East scored more goals in October than Eiserman, who lit the lamp four times in addition to adding an assist for five points in five games.
  • BU enters the weekend with the fifth-best power play in the country, clicking at 30.4%.
  • Sophomore co-captain Shane Lachance leads the Terriers with six points this season on one goal and a team-high five assists.

SERIES HISTORY

  • BU and Michigan have met 32 times since 1950, with the Terriers owning a 14-18-0 record against the Wolverines.
  • The teams first met in the 1950 NCAA semifinals, with BU earning a 4-3 win.
  • BU and Michigan split a weekend series in Ann Arbor on Oct. 14 and 16, 2022, with the Terriers taking the second game, 3-2.
  • Michigan last visited Agganis on Nov. 20-21, 2015, with the teams splitting a pair of games.
  • BU won the first night, 3-2, before the Wolverines took game two, 4-2.

SCOUTING THE WOLVERINES

  • Michigan enters the weekend at 3-2-1, having most recently earned a 5-4 home win over the U.S. National Development Team Program in an exhibition on Saturday.
  • The Wolverines split a weekend home series with then-No. 13 St. Cloud State in their last two games that counted on Oct. 18-19, earning a 3-0 win and suffering a 4-0 setback.
  • Freshman Michael Hage leads the team with seven points on four goals and three assists.
  • Sophomore Garrett Schifsky leads Michigan with five goals and is second on the squad with six points while junior T.J. Hughes paces Michigan with four assists.
  • Graduate student Logan Stein and freshman Cameron Korpi have each started three games between the pipes.
  • Stein is 2-1-0 with a 2.00 goals-against average, a .925 save percentage and one shutout while Korpi is 1-1-1 with a .915 save percentage and a 2.28 GAA.
  • Each goalie has started one game in all three of the Wolverines' weekend series to this point.

  • BU will return to Hockey East play next weekend when the Terriers face No. 20/19 UMass Lowell in a home-and-home series that begins on Nov. 8 at Agganis Arena.
