TERRIER TIDBITS
- BU is coming off its a bye week on a three-game win streak, having swept a home-and-home series with UConn on Feb. 23-24.
- The Terriers' winning ways began on Feb. 17 against Providence when they defeated the Friars, 5-2, at Agganis after losing a shootout at Schneider Arena the previous evening.
- BU has earned at least one point in its last seven Hockey East contests en route to locking up the No. 2 seed in the upcoming league tournament.
- Junior Mathieu Caron was named Hockey East Goaltender of the Month on Tuesday after going 6-1-1 in February with a league-leading 2.01 goals-against average.
- Caron stopped all 23 shots he faced in his last start, a 6-0 win over UConn on Feb. 24.
- Sophomore Jeremy Wilmer leads BU with 29 assists after he set new career highs in assists (4) and points (5) in that 6-0 victory over UConn.
- Freshman Macklin Celebrini is second in the country (first among rookies) with 26 goals and is also third in the NCAA in points per game (1.60).
- Sophomore Lane Hutson leads all NCAA defensemen in points per game (1.30) and is second among the nation's blue liners with 12 goals and 39 points.
- BU has killed off 11 straight penalties, a streak that started with a 6-for-6 performance against Providence on Feb. 17.
SERIES HISTORY
- BU and Providence first met in the 1926-27 season and have played 196 times since that encounter, with the Terriers leading the series, 117-59-20 (.648).
- BU is 22-8-7 against Providence in the teams' past 37 meetings, including a 10-4-6 record over the last 20 contests.
- The teams have played 31 overtime games and the Friars hold a 7-5-20 edge in them.
- The Terriers do have the last overtime win over Providence, however, as they defeated the Friars, 2-1, in overtime during last year's Hockey East semifinals at TD Garden.
- BU has shut out PC on 19 occasions while only being blanked six times.
SCOUTING THE FRIARS
- Providence is 4-4-1 since the start of February, including a weekend split against Merrimack on Feb. 29 and March 1.
- The Friars won at home, 4-2, before a 2-1 setback in North Andover.
- Senior Nick Poisson leads the Friars with 21 points and is tied with junior Guillaume Richard for the team lead in assists (14).
- Senior Chase Yoder paces Providence with 10 goals and is second in points with 19.
- Yoder is the only Friar to reach double digits in goals, but 20 different Providence skaters have found the back of the net this season.
- Sophomore Philip Svedebäck has started all 32 games for the Friars, posting a 2.22 goals-against average and a .902 save percentage.
- He has allowed two goals or fewer in four of his last five starts, with the exception being the Terriers' 5-2 win on Feb. 17.
