BURLINGTON, V.T. – No. 13 Boston University women's ice hockey (13-6-1, 11-3-1 HE) dropped a 3-2 decision to Vermont (5-16-2, 4-10-2 HE) at Gutterson Fieldhouse on Saturday evening.

BU lit the lamp 19 seconds into the game, but the Catamounts tied things up a few minutes later. The Terriers then added a power-play goal to take a 2-1 lead headed into the second which they held until Vermont evened the score at 7:12 in the middle frame. The Catamounts scored early in the third to take a 3-2 lead which they kept until the final horn despite BU pulling its netminder for an extra attacker.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Just 19 seconds into the game, Bochna gained control of the puck and passed across the neutral zone to Li. Welcke, who took it into Vermont's end.
- She then passed across the slot to S. Healey, who scored off a backhanded shot at the crease.
- Vermont scored its first equalizer of the game at the 8:06 mark.
- BU went on the power play at 8:55 as Vermont went to the box for roughing.
- Giaquinto and K. Healey set up a wide open Hanzel at the right circle, allowing her to fire off a top-shelf power-play goal to put BU back in the lead, 2-1.
- The Terriers served a penalty for body checking with 5:09 to go in the first and successfully killed it off.
- Vermont evened the score once again at the 7:12 mark in the middle frame.
- BU had multiple great chances at the crease but did not regain the lead headed into the third. Â
- At 6:54 in the third, Vermont took a 3-2 lead off a shot from the point.
- The Terriers pulled Pietersen from net with 3:25 to go.
- BU was called for holding and Vermont was called for roughing at the 17:12 mark.
- The Terriers kept their net empty to have a 5-on-4 advantage through the penalties, but nothing came of the extra skater advantage.
- The game finished with 6-on-5 play in BU's favor but the Terriers were unable to score as they fell 3-2.
