No. 15 Terriers Prepped for Home-and-Home Series With Holy Cross

BOSTON – The No. 15 Boston University women's ice hockey team (14-8-1, 11-4-1 HE) will face Holy Cross (7-13-3, 3-11-3 HE) in a home-and-home series on Friday (Jan. 24) and Saturday (Jan. 25). Friday's game at the Hart Center Rink is set for 6 p.m. while Saturday's game at Walter Brown Arena is scheduled for 4 p.m.
 
Saturday's home tilt is the grand reopening of Walter Brown Arena following the renovations to the locker room, team lounge, coaches' offices and arena entrance, as well as the installation of a video board. There will be a BU tote bag giveaway for fans who attend. Tickets for Saturday's game can be purchased here.
 
TERRIER TIDBITS
  • The Terriers most recently played in the 46th Dunkin' Women's Beanpot championship at TD Garden, dropping a 4-0 decision to No. 15/14 Northeastern.
  • The crowd of 13,279 set a record for the largest to watch a women's hockey game in New England and is the fifth-highest attended game in NCAA women's hockey history.
  • BU is No. 15 in the USA Hockey poll and is receiving votes in the USCHO poll this week.
  • The Terriers are third in the NCAA and second in Hockey East in penalty killing percentage (0.899).
  • Graduate student Julia Shaunessy was named the Hockey East defender of the week after recording two points against Harvard last week. She leads BU in points with 14.
  • The Terriers have the third-best scoring offense and scoring defense in the league.
  • BU is tied for both the most shorthanded goals in Hockey East with three and in power play goals with 13.
  • BU has blocked 209 total shots.
  • Graduate student Tamara Giaquinto leads the league and the BU squad in power play goals with five.
  • Thirteen Terriers have scored this season with six having at least five goals.
 
SCOUTING THE CRUSADERS
  • Holy Cross is 7-13-3 overall with a 3-11-3 record in Hockey East play.
  • The Crusaders are also 4-3-2 at home.
  • Most recently, Holy Cross went to a shootout and won in both of its games against Merrimack (1-1 tie with a 1-0 SOW; 2-2 tie with a 2-1 SOW).
  • The last time the Crusaders won a game was when they defeated then-No. 10 Boston College 2-1 in overtime on Dec. 6.
  • Holy Cross last won a game in regulation when it defeated Assumption 6-0 at home on Nov. 30.
  • Prior to the ties with Merrimack, Holy Cross was on a five-game losing streak.
 
SERIES HISTORY VS. HOLY CROSS
  • The Terriers are 11-6-0 all time against Holy Cross with a 5-3-0 record on the road and a 6-2-0 record at home.
  • The teams most recently met on Jan. 3, 2025, when BU won 3-0 at the Hart Center.
  • This marked the first time since Jan. 28, 2022, that BU won at Holy Cross.
  • BU last lost at Holy Cross on Jan. 27, 2024, in a 3-2 result.
  • In the last meeting at Walter Brown, Holy Cross won 4-2 in the Hockey East opening round.
