BOSTON – The No. 15 Boston University women's ice hockey team (1-5-0, 1-0-0 HE) defeated New Hampshire (3-4-1, 0-1-0 HE) in a 4-2 decision on Friday night at Walter Brown Arena.

BU secured a brief 1-0 lead in the opening frame before the Wildcats scored moments later to head into the second with a 1-1 tie. UNH found the back of the net next to go up 2-1, but BU responded with a power-play goal of its own to tie the game once again. Just 3:53 into the final frame, senior
Sydney Healey scored the game-winner before adding a goal on an empty net in the final minutes to help BU earn its first win of the season, 4-2.

S. Healey led the Terriers with three points off two goals and an assist, while sophomore
Kaileigh Quigg and freshman Lucy Theissen scored BU's first and second goals, respectively. Senior
Luisa Welcke and freshman
Lexie Bertelsen also made their way onto the scoresheet with one assist each. Graduate student
Michelle Pasiechnyk made 27 saves between the posts.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- BU went on the power play at 8:05 in the first due to a New Hampshire tripping call.
- The Terriers were unsuccessful in scoring through the advantage.
- BU was called for tripping with 3:02 to play in the first.
- After a battle for the puck in the BU zone, Quigg gained possession of the puck and took it up the ice to score a shorthanded goal from the near circle.
- Just before the power play expired, UNH found the back of the net to even the score, 1-1.
- BU went on the penalty kill at 10:35 due to a holding call.
- With eight seconds left on the UNH power play, BU was called for body checking.
- Just 18 seconds into their power play, the Wildcats went to the box for holding.
- UNH then took a 2-1 lead at the 13:58 mark.
- BU responded quickly when passes from S. Healey and Bertelsen made their way to Theissen at the top of the crease, who tapped the puck in to even the score, 2-2, with her first collegiate goal.
- The Terriers went on the power play with 1:01 to go in the second due to a cross checking call on UNH.
- BU did not score on the power play which carried over into the third.
- The Wildcats went to the box for tripping just 4:12 into the frame.
- With 1:12 left on its power play, BU went to the box for interference.
- Both penalties cleared without a change in score.
- The Terriers maintained possession of the puck in UNH's zone and Lu. Welcke passed to S. Healey at the far side of the circle, whose shot made its way past multiple defenders to find the back of the net and give BU a 3-2 lead.
- UNH was called for hooking with 1:59 to play and pulled its netminder from the posts to have a 6-on-4 advantage.
- S. Healey scored on the empty net with a shot from the BU zone with 26 seconds to play, resulting in BU's 4-2 win.
