TERRIER TIDBITS

  • BU enters the year ranked second in both the USCHO.com preseason poll and the USA Hockey preseason poll, behind only top-ranked Western Michigan.
  • The Terriers, national finalists last season, are looking to return to the Frozen Four for a fourth straight year under fourth-year head coach Jay Pandolfo.
  • Three key pieces of last year's squad return in sophomores Cole Eiserman, Cole Hutson and Mikhail Yegorov, who were all named to the preseason All-College Hockey News Team.
  • Hutson, the reigning National Rookie of the Year and a First Team All-American, led all NCAA freshmen in points (48) and assists in addition to pacing all NCAA defensemen in points and points per game (1.23).
  • Eiserman led all NCAA rookies with 25 goals last year and joined Hutson on the Hockey East All-Rookie Team.
  • Yegorov joined BU in the second semester and backstopped BU to a Beanpot title and a trip to the national title game, going 11-6-1 with a 2.15 goals-against average and a .927 save percentage.
  • Junior Gavin McCarthy will serve as captain of the 2025-26 Terriers, marking the second time in the last three seasons that a McCarthy will wear the 'C' for BU, as Gavin's brother Case was captain of the 2023-24 Terrier squad that advanced to the Frozen Four.
  • Eiserman, Hutson and junior Jack Harvey were named assistant captains.
  • BU boasts the youngest team in the country, with 15 newcomers joining 12 returning players.
  • Two of those newcomers are transfers from North Dakota in senior Owen McLaughlin and sophomore Sacha Boisvert.
  • Boisvert was the NCHC Rookie of the Year last season and finished second to Hutson in National Rookie of the Year voting after posting 32 points (18g, 14a) as a freshman.
  • McLaughlin has totaled 84 points (20g, 64a) in 114 career games.
  • In addition to being ranked second nationally, BU was picked as the preseason favorite to win the Hockey East regular-season title.

SCOUTING THE SHARKS

  • LIU will enter its sixth season of Division I hockey this year.
  • The Sharks will be led by first-year head coach Brendan Riley.
  • Riley took over for his cousin, Brett, who guided the team for its first five seasons before taking the head coaching position at Ferris State.
  • LIU went 20-12-2 last season as an independent.
  • The Sharks welcome 13 newcomers, including six transfers, to this year's squad.
  • Junior J.R. Perdion totaled 18 points on four goals and 14 assists last season for LIU.
  • The Sharks' goaltending room is young, with sophomores Daniel Duris and Michael Polston combining for nine appearances and just 247:15 of playing time last season for LIU.
